Weekly Yard Waste Collection (Begins 10/5)
The bi-weekly curbside yard waste collection for the Town of Cumberland will finish on September 25, 2026. Weekly yard waste collection will commence on October 5, 2026, for the fall season. The fall weekly yard waste collection will end on December 4, 2026. Residents are reminded that October 12, Columbus Day, is a recognized trash holiday and all trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will be delayed by one day and collected Tuesday, October 13, 2026, through Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Yard waste is defined as grass clippings, leaves, vegetation and small branches. Please do not put trash, stones, mulch, or sand in with yard waste. Bags found with these unacceptable materials or other debris and refuse will not be collected.
Yard waste is generally removed on the same day as residents’ trash and recycling but by a separate MEGA collection truck. Yard waste will only be picked up if placed in brown paper biodegradable lawn bags or from open containers which will be returned to the property. Additionally, small branches, no larger than 2 inches in diameter, and limited to 3 feet in length can be bundled, tied and placed curbside. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be collected.
Information pertaining to the disposal of yard waste and other materials is also available by contacting the Public Works Department at 728-2400, Ext. 155.
