Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A mother and son were recently killed in separate car accidents on the same day. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Mary J. Moore, 45, was hit and killed by a vehicle while lying in a West Allis street early Sunday morning. Her son, 22-year-old Thomas M. Olson was subsequently fatally injured in an accident while riding in a vehicle with a friend who was driving him to visit his mom in the hospital just hours later.
West Allis Deputy Chief Charles Padgett is quoted by the AP stating of the case, “It's emotional. We want to get there fast and sometimes disregard our safety…I use it to remind people that regardless of the circumstances, be aware of the speed.”
The driver of the vehicle transporting Olson was reportedly arrested for suspicion of DUI, after the accident, which also left he and two other passengers with injuries that were non-life threatening.
