On August 28th, 2026 at approximately 02:12 PM a 2023 Blue KIA 4-door hatchback was traveling westbound on SR-40 at mile post 82. A Black 2003 Peterbilt Semi Truck was traveling eastbound at the same location. The Semi Truck drifted off the road to the right and struck the guardrail. The driver overcorrected and crossed into westbound traffic, striking the KIA head-on. All three occupants of the KIA were killed on impact. The driver of the semi was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Front Passenger – Male, Age 42

Rear Passenger Side – Male, Age 18
