Help to Replace Personal Documents Is Available at the Spokane Complex Fire Disaster Assistance Center
Spokane, Wash. – Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD), in partnership with the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) Vital Records Team, is supporting individuals who lost birth certificates in the Spokane Complex Fire.
The DOH Vital Records Team will be available to replace birth certificates for people born in Washington state at no cost Aug. 11-12 at the Spokane Complex Fire Disaster Assistance Center at Shadle Park High School.
Recent emergency actions by Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson include support for replacing personal documents lost or damaged because of wildfires.
“We understand the burden our neighbors face when they lose important documents,” said Aja Richardson, SRHD Vital Records program manager. “SRHD and our partners at Washington DOH are here to help people get the new documents they need.”
Other important documents, including driver's licenses, Social Security cards, passports, marriage records and divorce records, are handled by different agencies. People should contact the agency responsible for the specific document to learn about replacement requirements and any emergency assistance that may be available.
SRHD also encourages people to be cautious when ordering vital records online. VitalChek is the only approved third-party vendor for SRHD online vital-record orders. Other websites may charge additional fees.
