Statement From Executive Regarding Schoharie Tragedy
We are deeply saddened that a member of our county staff was one of the many lives lost during the Schoharie tragedy Saturday afternoon. Our county family is grieving the loss of Adam Jackson and his wife Abby, who are survived by two young daughters. Adam was a Deputy Commissioner for the Board of Elections. He will be missed by his work family and by the many others who knew him.
These past few days have been an extremely difficult and heartbreaking time for our community. This incident has affected not only our staff, but friends and families county-wide. The strength of our community was highlighted Monday during a vigil in Amsterdam. Thousands were present to show support to the friends and families affected, as well as to honor the lives of the victims. I'm proud to live in a community that comes together during difficult times and proves why we are made of something stronger. Please know that my thoughts are with everyone affected during this tragic time.
