EVACUATION LEVELS UPDATED – SPOKANE COMPLEX FIRE
We Ask for the Public’s Patience as Firefighters Continue to Make Progress

Today, August 9, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm, in consultation with the Spokane Complex Fire Incident Management Team (IMT) and our local partners, the Old Trails Road, Autumn Lane, and Fairview Fire Evacuation Levels have been updated due to the expiration of the Red Flag Warnings and continued successful firefighting operations.

Thankfully, this weekend’s Red Flag Warnings have expired, and Spokane Complex Firefighting mop-up/containment efforts have progressed.  

These positive developments have led to today’s Evacuation Level Updates, including several downgrades.  However, the areas in and around the fire’s path of devastation remain at Level 3 due to the ongoing fire mop-up/containment operations and the large number of very unhealthy and hazardous conditions there.

All Level 3 areas remain closed with no access.  We understand the extreme anxiety and frustration of everyone who tragically lost their homes due to the catastrophic fires, or are still affected by these closures, but we continue to ask for your patience.  

The Level 3 Evacuation perimeter is needed for everyone’s safety, including the firefighters who continue suppression and damage assessment operations in these unsafe areas, ensuring hotspots, damaged utilities, and hazardous conditions/materials are addressed. 

Although progress has been made, there is still a large amount of work to make the current Level 3 areas safe and ask everyone to stay out of these Level 3 Zones.     

We also remind everyone that all of Spokane County remains at high risk for fire starts due to extremely dry vegetation, large amounts of fire fuels, and forecasted weather conditions, including extremely low humidity.    

Please be very careful and avoid any activity that could cause a spark or start a new fire.

NOTE: Fire Evacuation Levels are continually evaluated, and when it is safe to open these areas, they will be updated.
