The Orange Giant Highlights ZHAI’s Community-Driven Development Approach

Studio combines gaming-community research, original world-building and selective player feedback as development of Il’Navir progresses

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, August 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Orange Giant is highlighting the community-driven development approach behind ZHAI, its third-person action-adventure game set in the fractured world of Il’Navir. Now in full production, the studio is refining core world mechanics, pre-alpha systems and high-fidelity visuals while continuing to share selected development updates with its growing audience.

At the heart of this approach is extensive research into what today’s gaming community values in new experiences. Rather than building the game around direct requests from players, The Orange Giant uses broader community interests and expectations to help inform its creative thinking, with particular emphasis on developing a completely original story and world, compelling characters, distinctive creatures and a strong sense of discovery.

The studio also involves selected members of the community at different stages of development. Small groups may be shown prototypes, early visuals or gameplay concepts to understand their overall feel for the experience, while community input is occasionally used as a creative sounding board for elements such as character and creature names. The final creative direction remains with the development team.

This process complements The Orange Giant’s ongoing development updates, which include early game-world visuals, gameplay snippets and social media development logs. The studio describes its broader approach as community-minded, inviting players to follow the creation of Il’Navir as the project evolves.

ZHAI follows a warrior who awakens with his memory stripped and identity erased. As players recover fragments of his past, they uncover deeper truths about both the character and Il’Navir while facing the resurgence of an ancient adversary and navigating conflict between the tribes of Velkhun and Avarah.

Exploration takes players across a sprawling alien world of dense forests, deserts, frozen mountaintops, colossal stone formations and floating islands, populated by unfamiliar creatures and distinct tribal civilizations. Discovery is closely tied to Zhai’s lost memories and the wider history of the world.

The game’s progression system similarly connects narrative discovery with combat development. Recovering memories unlocks forgotten techniques through the Memory Skill Tree, while players develop gravitational abilities, elemental powers, chain attacks, combo systems and tactical options for encounters ranging from alien creatures to rival tribal warriors and major enemies.

“We want ZHAI to feel original while still understanding what resonates with players today. Our research into the gaming community helps us stay aware of what players value, while feedback from selected groups gives us another perspective on how our characters, creatures, environments and gameplay are being received as they take shape,” said Kevin Grunder of The Orange Giant.

The project grew from ideas and images remembered by one of the studio’s founders during recovery from a motorbike accident and coma. Early sketches inspired by those memories became the foundation for Il’Navir, eventually developing into ZHAI and helping shape the creative vision of The Orange Giant.

Players can follow the studio’s progress through its social channels and join its mailing list for updates, release information and future early-access opportunities. The Orange Giant remains open to media, publishing and creative collaboration inquiries as work on ZHAI advances. The studio plans to continue sharing development materials as production progresses.
