  • Saturday, July 18Opening of The Many Unheard Voices: The African American Communities of Gaston County, 1870s-1970s This powerful new exhibition tells the stories of Gaston County's African American communities through the voices of the people who know them best. Unlike a traditional museum exhibition, The Many Unheard Voices is community curated - bringing local residents into the curatorial process to help shape the stories, objects, and experiences shared with visitors. Together, we're exploring the lives, contributions, challenges, and triumphs of African American communities from the 1870s through the 1970s in Gaston County. This exhibition reflects the belief that history is strongest when it is shared, preserved, and told by the people who lived it. 11am-4pm, Gaston County Museum of Art & History, 131 West Main St, Dallas.

A full listing of community events can be found at GoGastonNC.org, while County government and many municipal events are on the Community Calendar of GastonGov.com.
