This is an official notice of the upcoming election to be conducted in Accomack County. The Commonwealth of Virginia has called for a DUAL PRIMARY Election to be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, for the purpose of nominating a candidate for both the Democratic and Republican Party for the offices of United States Senate, Member, United State House of Representatives, (2nd Congressional District), and local offices. Should only one candidate qualify for the primary ballot in any office, no primary for that office will be held. 

All Voters are asked to provide a valid ID at the time of voting or they will be asked to sign an ID Confirmation Statement to vote a regular ballot. 

• Curbside assistance is available during Early Voting at the Registrar’s office and at all voting locations on Election Day 

• A Ballot Drop Box for Absentee Ballots is available outside the Voter Registration and Elections Office and is under constant video surveillance for security purposes. Polling Places are also ballot drop off locations on Election Day 

• Same Day Registration – SDR – is a provisional method of voting and is available from 7/25/2026 through Election Day, 08/04/26 (SDR is not available on Monday 08/03/2026). 

Thursday, June 18, 2026 First Day of In-Person Early Voting at Voter Registration Office from 8:30 AM to 5 PM 

Sunday July 19, 2026 First Day of In-Person Sunday Voting from 11 AM to 5 PM; NEW 

Friday, July 24, 2026 Deadline to request to receive an absentee ballot by mail. Requests must be received in the Voter Registration Office by 5 PM. (Apply for absentee ballot using the Citizen Portal on the Virginia Department of Election’s website here.

Friday, July 24, 2026 Deadline to Register to Vote or Update Registration (Voters may register after this date starting Wednesday, 07/25 and vote using a provisional ballot/SDR) 

Saturday, July 25, 2026 First Day of In-Person Saturday Voting from 8:30 AM to 5 PM; First Day of SDR 

Sunday July 26, 2026 Second Day of In-Person Sunday Voting from 11 AM to 5 PM; NEW 

Saturday, August 1, 2026 Second Saturday and Last Day to Vote Early In-Person 8:30 AM to 5 PM 

Tuesday, August 4, 2026 Election Day at Your Local Polling Place Only from 6 AM to 7 PM (Voters cannot early vote at the Registrar’s office)
