West Virginia’s Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) program helps businesses stay globally competitive by offering duty deferral, reduction, or elimination on imported goods. Administered by WVEDA, the program allows companies operating in FTZs to bring in goods without paying U.S. customs duties until the products enter the domestic market, or not at all if the goods are re-exported. That can translate to significant cost savings and supply chain efficiencies.

FTZs are especially useful for manufacturers, distribution centers, and logistics companies that handle large volumes of international shipments. Companies can also reduce fees on damaged or obsolete goods that never reach the U.S. market. To establish or operate in a Foreign Trade Zone, companies must comply with federal FTZ Board regulations and work closely with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
