Attention Healthcare Professionals,
The Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) wants to inform licensees of DOPL impersonators targeting licensed healthcare professionals in Utah.
The impersonators are using a caller ID that appears to be from DOPL and claiming that you are under investigation for allegedly using your NPI and State License to illegally transport drugs across state lines.
Remember:
- DOPL will NEVER demand money or sensitive information over the phone to resolve an investigation.
- DOPL will NEVER threaten you with immediate arrest or license suspension over the phone.
What to do:
- If you receive a suspicious call, HANG UP.
- Do not provide any info.
- You can verify any claims by calling DOPL directly at 801-530-6628.
- IF you happen to provide sensitive information during an encounter like this, the Federal Trade Commission provides recovery steps at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
