DOCJT is reintroducing several high-demand courses in 2026, including the Academy of Police Supervision (APS), Law Enforcement Training Officer, Basic Narcotics Officer and Basic Investigator courses.  There are also several new classes in 2026, including:

• A new leadership course for small and mid-sized agencies titled “Reforming, Empowering and Valuing the Advancement of Mid-Level Leaders (REVAMP)”

• Collision Scene Investigation

• Over 30 new online, cyber investigations courses through a partnership with the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C)

Many classes will be held at DOCJT’s Richmond campus, while several instructors will travel statewide to provide training at locations more convenient for agencies. The additional sites will be held in Northern Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Calvert City, Paducah, Madisonville, Pikeville, and Prestonsburg.

DOCJT encourages agencies to verify information in Law Enforcement Training Records System (LETRS) Person Record information is current and accurate before Dec. 1.

“It’s essential that the LETRS Person Record accurately reflects an officer’s current rank, position, and email address,” White said. “For example, if an officer has been promoted but their LETRS information still lists them at a previous rank, they will be deemed ineligible for courses like APS. We’ve seen similar issues with new chiefs and some investigations courses; if their person record shows a prior rank or position, they cannot register until it is corrected.”

This information can be corrected by the agency LETRS Administrator.
