Emergency Order Issued – Open Burning Prohibited in Unincorporated Putnam County
The Putnam County Board of County Commissioners has issued Emergency Order Proclamation No. 2026-11, declaring a local state of emergency and prohibiting open burning in unincorporated Putnam County due to elevated fire conditions.
Effective February 2, 2026, the order bans open burning and other high-risk activities, including fireworks, debris burning, and parking vehicles in grassy areas. Limited exceptions apply for outdoor cooking grills and certain approved commercial activities.
The order is in effect for seven (7) days and may be extended. Violations are subject to enforcement under Florida law.
The order has been extended through to May 12th, 2026
