Hurricane season is almost here, and it's important to be prepared before disaster strikes. Miami-Dade County residents who need specialized transportation assistance or whose medical needs prevent them from evacuating on their own can register for the Emergency & Evacuation Assistance Program (EEAP) so they can get the help they need in the event of an emergency.

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30, but it's never too early to make the necessary preparations for yourself and members of your family.

If you or a loved one that resides in Miami-Dade County have disabilities or need skilled nursing care, assistance with daily living or have life-saving medical equipment dependent on electricity, you are eligible to register for assistance with the EEAP.

Registering prior to an emergency will ensure help will be available to you when needed during an emergency or hazardous event.
