Road Closure – County Road 4 (Turquoise Lake Loop)
Lake County Closes Section of County Road 4 Due to Safety Concerns
Leadville, CO — Lake County has closed a section of County Road 4 near the sluff area along Turquoise Lake to vehicle traffic until further notice due to roadway damage and safety concerns.
Barricades have been installed near the Abe Lee Parking turnoff and near Hagerman Pass on the west side of the closure area. Access to the Abe Lee area remains available via County Road 4. County Roads 9C and 9 remain open and provide access around Turquoise Lake. Hagerman Pass (CR 4 / FS105) remains snow-covered and is not passable at this time.
Given the popularity of this route, Lake County recognizes the impact of this closure. This section of roadway represents a significant infrastructure repair need, and the County is actively working with partner agencies to evaluate potential repair options and identify funding opportunities.
This closure will remain in place while repair options and next steps are determined.
