MPD Arrests a Man in Connecticut Avenue Robbery
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man for robbing a victim while they were entering the lobby of their apartment building in Northwest.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 2:32 a.m., the victim was entering the lobby of their apartment building in the 4600 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest when the suspect snatched the purse off the victim’s shoulder. The suspect fled the scene before the police arrived.
Nearby surveillance cameras captured the offense which helped detectives positively identify the suspect as 24-year-old Matthew Richardson of Northwest, D.C. On Monday, March 30, 2026, he walked into a local police station and turned himself in. Richardson was arrested and charged with Robbery (Snatch).
