PotashCorp Match Drives Donations to Z99 Radiothon

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) today matched $100,000 in donations to Regina’s Z99 Radiothon to purchase new equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Rawlco Centre for Mother Baby Care at Regina General Hospital. The results of PotashCorp’s matching gift challenge were announced live on air during the broadcast.

“At PotashCorp, we recognize the important role that Regina and the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region play as a regional hub,” said Rhonda Speiss, Manager of Corporate Philanthropy. “People who live and work in southern Saskatchewan rely on the health services and medical professionals located here. We wanted to get involved in the Z99 campaign in keeping with our commitment to improve quality of life in places where we operate.”

Last Spring, PotashCorp committed $350,000 toward the purchase of a new, custom-built neo-natal ambulance to serve over 120 cities, towns, villages and First Nations communities across southern Saskatchewan. The new ambulance, which was unveiled and launched into service in December 2011, is outfitted with the latest technology and equipment to treat and transport infant patients quickly, safely and comfortably.

“When a child needs medical attention, and every second counts, families should feel confident that state-of-the-art medical equipment is available to help them,” explained Speiss. “We’re pleased to have played a part in this year’s campaign and we wish to thank everyone in the community who called in with their own support.”

Headquartered in Saskatoon, PotashCorp is the world’s largest fertilizer company by capacity, producing the three primary crop nutrients – potash, phosphate and nitrogen. With five potash operations in Saskatchewan, and one in New Brunswick, it is responsible for about 20 percent of global capacity and is the world’s leading potash producer. Its operations and business interests span seven countries, making PotashCorp an international enterprise and a key player in meeting the growing challenge of feeding the world.
