Senate Key Vote: Important Highway Bill Amendments
Dear Senators,
With regards to the pending surface transportation bill (S. 1813), Americans for Prosperity will rate the following amendments in our congressional ratings if they come to the floor:
I strongly urge you to SUPPORT the following amendments:
-
Boiler MACT Delay: Collins Amendment 1660 (or a substantially similar amendment), which would require the Environmental Protection Agency to rewrite its onerous “Boiler MACT” rules that could cost the economy billions of dollars.
-
Approve the Keystone Pipeline: Hoeven Amendment 1537 (or a substantially similar amendment), which would finalize the paperwork and finally authorize construction for this important pipeline that will create thousands of jobs and ensure access to affordable, dependable energy for American consumers.
I strongly urge you to OPPOSE the following amendments:
-
More Tax Credits for Wind Power: Bennet Amendment 1624 (or a substantially similar amendment), which again extend special tax treatment for wind power production, distorting American energy markets and adding more complexity to the nation’s already broken tax code.
-
NAT GAS Act: Menendez-Burr Amendment 1782 (or a substantially similar amendment), which would create new and extend existing tax credits for the production of natural gas-powered cars and trucks. This is yet another attempt by government to pick winners and losers in the energy market, an approach that has proved ineffective.
Americans for Prosperity will rate each of these votes in its congressional ratings.
Sincerely,
James Valvo
Director of Government Affairs
Americans for Prosperity
