The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting on Monday, April 28, to discuss curb modifications being proposed as part of an upcoming bridge replacement project on State Route 33A (Chili Avenue) at the Town of Gates/City of Rochester border in Monroe County. The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Southwest Neighborhood Service Center, 923 Genesee Street, Rochester, N.Y., 14611 and will feature a short presentation about the proposed curb width changes followed by a question-and-answer session.
The project, which is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026, will replace the existing bridge over the historic Erie Canal with a modern structure featuring wider travel lanes, shoulders, sidewalks and safety enhancements for bicyclists. The Erie Canalway/Empire State Trail located under the bridge will remain open throughout the project.
