Paddle the LA River Program Will Receive a "Project of the Year," Honor from Corps Networks.
LA Conservation Corps Executive Director Bruce Saito Will Receive a Corps Legacy Achievement Award.
/EINPresswire.com/ Los Angeles, California------February 8, 2012----- The LA Conservation Corps (LACC) has been selected to be honored with "Project of the Year," by the Corps Network, the voice of the nation's 151 Service and Conservation Corps. The Projects of the Year represent the best innovative programs making impacts on both Corpsmembers and Communities. The Los Angeles Conservation Corps was selected for the: Paddle the LA River (Non-motorized Boat Pilot Program). The LA Conservation Corps is expecting the program to be re-energized this coming summer and is awaiting news regarding the permit.
The Selection Committee had the challenging task of identifying the nationwide programs signifying the amazing quality of work being done and lives being touched within the Corps world.
"On behalf of the LA Conservation Corps, I am honored that our program is receiving this distinguished recognition," stated Irene Lopez-Muro, Senior Program Director of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps. "The success of this program is an excellent example of a total team effort from our Corpsmembers and partners. We share this acknowledgement with them."
In addition, the Corps Networks Selection Committee has identified Honorees chosen to be the first recipients of the Corps Legacy Achievement Awards, the criteria is individuals that have made significant contributions to the Corps movement over the past 20 years. Bruce Saito, of the Los Angeles Conservation Corps (also served with the California Conservation Corps) is often identified by LA Conservation Corpmembers with lofty praise and great admiration. He will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. at 8:00PM on February 12 for his achievements.
"I would have a difficult time naming another person who is more universally liked and admired in any realm than our humble leader Bruce Saito. He is a true example of a selfless community servant. I'm certain this recognition makes him squirm, however not recognizing the impact of this man would be a great oversight," stated LA Conservation Corps Deputy Director Dan Knapp.
