Construction Accident at Future Rock Hill Velodrome Kills Worker

Rock Hill, SC — A construction accident at the site of the future Giordana Velodrome killed an 18-year-old construction worker on Saturday morning, November 26, 2011, reported The Herald.
Kempf Contracting employee, Maynro Perez of Charlotte, was involved in an accident with a backhoe, leaving him with fatal injuries.
Rescue crews were called to the scene around 10:45 a.m., who rushed him to an area hospital for medical treatment. After arriving at the hospital, his injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead.
The details surrounding the deadly construction accident and how it occurred have not been released.
Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to arrive at the scene to conduct a full investigation into the death.
The Veldorome is expected to open next spring and will be hosting the 2012 USA Cycling International Omnium Track National Championship.
