Campbell Soup to Add 2.3 MW Solar
Campbell Soup Company announced that it has entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) and land lease agreement (LLA) with American Capital Energy (ACE) to construct a 2.3 megawatt (MW) PV solar installation. The 14 acre solar power system will be located at Campbell's Sacramento, California facility, and is expected to be completed by March 2012. Campbell will lease the land to ACE, who will install, own, and maintain the solar installations. Campbell will purchase 100 percent of the generated solar power, which is anticipated to provide nearly 10 percent of the Sacramento facility's annual electricity usage.
Earlier this year, Campbell Soup Company signed a PPA for a 60 acre, 9.8 megawatt solar system located at the company's largest manufacturing plant in Napoleon, Ohio.
