Cleveland, OH — An argument over a campaign sign turned violent when an Election Day poll worker tried to bite a voter’s nose off on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, reported the Washington Post.

According to Cleveland police, Greg Flanagan, 49, had just finished voting when he went to the aid of a campaign worker, who was arguing with an election employee on whether a campaign sign was posted too close to the polls—a violation of election rules.

The police report revealed that Flanagan said to the suspect, “Measure the distance if you are concerned, don’t be an ass.”

The suspect got upset and grabbed Flanagan around the neck, head butted him in between the eyes, and then pulled his head close to head near him and tried to bite his nose off.

Flanagan was left with a laceration on one side of his nose, and dizziness from being head butted. He was treated at an area hospital for his injuries.

The election worker took off in his car following the attack, and was not at home when police went to his apartment.

Cleveland police are investigating the incident. The suspect has not been charged with any crime at this time.
