Copyright Legislation Amendment (Fair Pay for Radio Play) Bill 2023
AUSTRALIA, August 15 - The bill would amend the Copyright Act 1968 to remove provisions that prevent radio broadcasters from paying more than one per cent of their gross earnings in licence fees for the broadcast of sound recordings. In practice, it would allow the relevant copyright collecting society to participate in free market negotiations with radio broadcasters for licences that reflect the value of the works being licenced.
The deadline for submissions 10 November 2023.
