The Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, managed by the Energy Community Secretariat co-chaired by the European Commission, has reported on its achievements in August.

Last month, the Fund raised over €25.2 million from Sweden to help rebuild and maintain Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which has been damaged by Russian attacks. Swedish donations are channelled into initiatives aimed at restoring the electricity grid, creating sustainable and stable renewable energy sources and respecting gender equality principles.

Also in August, the Fund purchased more than €5 million worth of equipment. This equipment, including disconnectors, transformers, vehicles, devices, and other essential equipment. 

The main benefiting sector of this support was the electricity system, which received 90% of the assistance, with the remaining 10% allocated to combined heat and power plants.  

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established to provide financial support for repairing Ukrainian energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks and to maintain the functioning of the energy sector. It receives significant contributions from governments, international organisations, and corporate donors. To date, the fund has raised a total of €220 million and has already procured equipment worth €40 million.
