SCOTUS ruled against a California labor law. State Supreme Court might uphold it anyway
California courts are the final interpreters of state law, and several state appeals courts have already ruled that one worker’s contractual agreement to arbitrate individual claims does not restrict co-workers’ right to be protected by state labor laws, or to share in the monetary penalties provided by PAGA. State Supreme Court justices appeared to agree in a hearing Tuesday.
