DEQ issues 16 penalties in February for environmental violations
Fines ranged from $1,200 to $42,130. Alleged violations included a wastewater facility discharging more pollution than allowed by its permit, a retirement community not properly testing its fuel underground storage tank, and a builder not implementing its erosion and sediment control plan.
DEQ issued civil penalties to the following organizations and individuals:

• Alexandra Kneeshaw, Grants Pass, $24,657, stormwater
• American Gypsum Recycling, Turner, $5,100, solid waste
• BelAir Auto Body Inc., Clackamas, $1,200, air quality
• City of Silverton, Silverton, $42,130, wastewater
• Croman Corp, White City, $11,426, stormwater
• Herman Capital Inc., Portland, $1,200, air quality
• Jono Inc., Portland, $1,200, air quality
• Kramer's Auto Body & Car Stereo, Forest Grove, $1,200,air quality
• Lucky Auto Body, Paint and Repair, Beaverton, $1,275, air quality
• Oregon Department of Transportation, Buxton, $15,375, stormwater
• Pacific Surimi, Newport, $8,500, wastewater
• Prspct Lab LLC, Eugene, $16,800, hazardous waste
• SB Northwest Investments LLC dba Eagle Trailer Manufacturing, Portland, $6,274, air quality
• Superior Auto Pros LLC, Gresham, $1,200, air quality
• Willamette View, Portland, $32,219, underground storage tanks
Organizations or individuals must either pay the fines or file an appeal within 20 days of receiving notice of the penalty. They may be able to offset a portion of a penalty by funding a supplemental environmental project that improves Oregon’s environment. Learn more about these projects at https://ordeq.org/sep .
Penalties may also include orders requiring specific tasks to prevent ongoing violations or additional environmental harm.
