RICHMOND, CA, UNITED STATES, January 24, 2023 /EINPresswire.com/ -- According to Forbes magazine, 1.2 million African Americans are riding the startup wave as people of color leave BIG businesses to build their brands. One local establishment is bridging the gap for budding entrepreneurs. CoBiz Richmond, Inc, a 501(C)(3) non-profit led by Founding CEO Wesley Alexander and his team, is forging the way for small business owners.

Through a collaboration with NorCal SBDC via the Inclusivity Project, CoBiz Richmond, Inc is promoting the services and resources of the SBDC as well as hosting watch parties of the training sessions to level the playing field for minority-owned businesses. The Inclusivity Project, originally founded by Chris Horton, aims to address “Institutional and systemic barriers to Black entrepreneurship.” With support from Kären Woodruff from the Wells Fargo Foundation, NorCal SBDC hopes to increase awareness of their services via partnerships with Black Chambers of Commerce and community-based organizations (CBOs) in California like CoBiz Richmond. These institutions offer invaluable insights, training, and development for entrepreneurs, especially minority entrepreneurs.

The post-pandemic surge shows an uptick in small business development of some 198% in predominantly Black areas. Through the partnership with CoBiz, NorCal SBDC, and the Inclusivity Project, residents will have access to tools and resources to elevate their businesses such as access to live webinars, expert instructors, and weekly Q&A sessions with SBDC advisors.

The program kicks off with a virtual welcome meeting on Wednesday, January 25th at 10:00 AM, hosted by STEM expert Dr. LaVonne Slaton. Attendees can register at bit.ly/3X2uW3T.

Then, the Start Smart Training Programs are held every Wednesday morning from 10 AM - 11:30 AM, from February 1st through March 22nd. The themes include: Starting Your Business, Planning for Success, Small Business Finance, Marketing for Success, Financial Management, and Credit Repair.
Afternoon sessions take attendees to the next level with the Scaling Up for Success Webinars. Themes include creating a Vision, Business Organization, Branding, and Financial Planning.
