Nicholls Furniture To Close Galion Ohio Store
/EINPresswire.com/ Galion, OH - September 19, 2011 -- After 64 years of continuous operation, Nicholls Furniture announced they are closing their store in Galion Ohio. When all inventory on hand is sold, they will close down the retail operation of the Galion store and convert the building to a warehouse and distribution center for the Marion and Mansfield stores. The Sale will start Thursday September 22nd, 2011 and continue until all merchandise is sold.
Nicholls Furniture was started in 1947 in downtown Galion by Art Nicholls. To meet the demands of a broader clientele for quality furnishings, a new store was erected in 1961 on Route 309 at the east edge of Galion. This now familiar landmark has quadrupled in size from its original 8,000 square feet making it one of the largest displays of fine quality furniture in the central Ohio area. Founder Art Nicholls retired in the mid 1990's and his son Jerry, who joined the business in 1960, took over the operation.
Nicholls Furniture has built its reputation for quality and service one customer at a time. Customers from 2nd and 3rd generations remember the furniture they purchased from the Nicholls Galion store over the past 64 years that is still in their home. Nicholls Furniture has always been a warm and friendly buying experience with family ownership offering personal attention to every customer. The Nicholls family said this tradition would continue while they conducted an event to say "Thanks for the Memories".
The decision to close the store was made by Jerry Nichols, and his family. In announcing the store closing, Nicholls stated, "The decision to close the store has been a difficult one.
My family has been in the furniture business since the 1947. We are a true mid Ohio family business. For years, we have offered our friends and neighbors the best quality products at outstanding value pricing. This sale and our special pricing at our Galion store will be our way of saying thanks to the residents of Ohio for the 64 Years of Support we received in Galion from all of our loyal and regular customers from the entire Nicholls family. We will continue to service customers from our Marion store who will not participate in this special event."
Jerry Nicholls continued his comments about the Galion Store Closing Sale by saying: "Nicholls Furniture is a part of the history in Galion and we have loved being a part of so many families' lives and homes. However, we have concluded that given the current economic conditions, we must make the move to condense all operations to our Marion location. During this limited time Store Closing Event in Galion, we will still offer our customers the outstanding quality merchandise and values we're known for, with the same Nicholls service they have always known". Mr. Nicholls went on to assure current customers that Nicholls will honor all existing orders, warranties and service agreements.
"At the Galion location, while inventory remains, we will have reductions in price of up to 75% on every item in the store from such well-known suppliers as La-Z-Boy, Broyhill, Flexsteel, Lane, Sealy, Craftmaster, Tempur Pedic, and many others. Our display showroom has over $5 million in inventory that will be sold as quickly as possible at the lowest prices in the store's history." Nicholls continued, "Every item in this multi-million dollar inventory at Galion must be sold, regardless of cost. We will not be honoring Factory Minimum pricing standards. We will not move any inventory. This is a wall-to-wall total sell-off, regardless of cost, only while inventory remains in the Galion store."
