California College Completes 4.5-MW Solar Project
Butte College (CA) has completed installation of a 4.5-megawatt (MW) photovoltaic system. The system is comprised of 25,000 panels installed throughout the campus on parking structures, buildings, and over covered walkways. The solar panels were installed in three phases beginning in 2005, and can now generate up to 6.5 million kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity each year. The solar system is expected to meet all of the electricity demand of the college's 21,000 students.
