Press Statement
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC
June 24, 2011

I am delighted to congratulate the people of Mozambique on your 36th anniversary of independence this June 25.

Our two countries share a commitment to economic development, improved living standards, and good governance for all Mozambicans. Together, we are working to improve infrastructure through the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact, providing quality health care through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the President's Malaria Initiative, and encouraging investment to spur economic growth and job creation. The United States is committed to helping Mozambique strengthen education programs, increase agricultural production, and improve democratic governance.

I wish the Mozambican people a joyful independence celebration and a peaceful and prosperous year to come.
