Planet Venus Involved in Affairs of the Heart, Study Shows

/EINPresswire.com/ May 25, 2011 -- An astrological research study tracing the relationship history of 1,300 highly visible celebrity couples found overwhelming statistical evidence linking Venus, the planet astrologers traditionally identify with the principle of attraction, with affairs of the heart.

Australian research astrologer Paul Westran said positive astrological "connections" between the sun and Venus turned up at the start of relationships so frequently there was only one chance in 900,000 the observations occurred by chance. The results were much greater than needed to demonstrate statistical significance.

According to an article posted on the Astrology News Service (ANS) website, the study found no support for the popular idea that some astrological sun signs go along better together than others.

The eight year tracking study did support the idea that celestial angles formed between the sun, moon and planets, what astrologers call aspects, appear to work the way astrological text books say they should.

The research provided statistical support for synastry, the chart comparison method astrologers have used for centuries to evaluate compatibility potential in couples.

And it showed that planets advanced or moved forward over time using the method astrologers call secondary progressions formed progressed synastry aspects that accurately anticipated when relationships were most likely to start -- and end.

Westran says the aspects presenting most powerfully in the study were the conjunction, which is formed when planets are closely aligned together in the same sign, and the opposition, which occurs when they are spaced roughly 180 degrees apart in opposite signs. Equally powerful were the harmony-promoting 120 degree trine and the stressful 90 degree square.

"Sun/Venus conjunctions are especially favorable aspects, and the evidence suggests that couples are strongly attracted to each other when the Sun/Venus aspect is an opposition. Only with the opposition there will probably be issues to work out," he said.

Significantly, progressed sun/Venus conjunctions, oppositions and trines were prominent in the synastry charts of couples forming romantic partnerships, occurring with much greater frequency than expected by chance. Mostly, the 90-degree square was a no-show when relationships formed but turned up at difficult turning points later on.

To track progressed synastry aspects Westran created the so-called collision graph, which visually presents a timeline for these aspects as they approach, become exact at the collision point and separate over time. In his book, When Stars Collide, he uses these graphic charts to visually depict hundreds of case studies showcasing the dynamic involvement of these aspects in the lives of real people.

Westran says the research began as exploratory analysis. But Sun/Venus aspects soon began showing up in synastry and progressed synastry charts with great regularity, setting the direction for inquiry.

In addition to accurate birth data, the ambitious research activity required the collection of detailed biographical information from public sources on three continents.
