PotashCorp Recognized for Commitment to the 2010 United Way Community Campaign

PotashCorp’s organization-wide commitment assisted the United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s 2010 Community Campaign in surpassing its $5.1 million goal and was recognized during a ceremony at TCU Place in Saskatoon.

PotashCorp received a Campaign Chair’s Choice Award in the Large Organization category and Crystal Hanson of PotashCorp Allan also received an individual Schmeiser Spirit Award for outstanding leadership in the campaign.

Hanson is proud to play a role in supporting the organization, adding, “The United Way has a positive impact on the community – it levels the playing field.  Anybody can suddenly find themselves in a position of need – it’s an insurance policy for everybody.”

“We are proud to help support the remarkable work of the United Way, here and around the world,” said Ross Mireau, Manager, Quality Control for PotashCorp. “The fact that Crystal received an individual award is particularly fitting since our United Way contributions are driven by the generous individuals who work for PotashCorp.”

The United Way is also a beneficiary of PotashCorp’s Matching Gift program, under which employees are able to contribute and have their contribution matched by the program.

Saskatchewan PotashCorp employees, along with USW 7458/7689/189, raised $240,000 for the United Way in 2010, with the company matching these donations dollar for dollar and thereby raising the grand total contributed to $480,000.
