ALA TechSource to repeat popular RDA Workshop

CHICAGO - By popular demand, ALA TechSource is offering the three-part workshop Using RDA: Moving into the Metadata Future this spring.

Presenters Karen Coyle, Chris Oliver and Diane Hillmann will offer a perspective on RDA from the context of AACR2, other metadata models and possibilities for sharing library data.

With the launch of the RDA Toolkit, the new content standard, RDA: Resource Description and Access, is now ready for libraries to use. While libraries are formally testing RDA as participants in the U.S. national libraries’ study, many more are experimenting and exploring. This series workshop is a chance for library staff to learn what’s changed from AACR2 and explore the potential for applying RDA data to library projects.

The series begins on May 11. The three 90-minute sessions are as follows:

Session 1: May 11
RDA: Designed for Current and Future Environments with Chris Oliver
Session 2: May 18
New Models of Metadata with Karen Coyle
Session 3: May 25
RDA Vocabularies in the Semantic Web with Diane Hillmann

You can register for this event at the ALA Store (http://www.alastore.ala.org/detail.aspx?ID=3125).
Please contact Daniel Freeman at (312) 280-5413 or dfreeman@ala.org with further inquiries.

ALA TechSource Workshops provide participants with a unique opportunity for hands-on work with prominent library technology experts.
