Wind Powering America Launches Interactive Anemometer Loan Program Wind Data Map
Date: 3/1/2011
Wind Powering America posted a new interactive map depicting wind data collected from its Native American anemometer loan program and the Western Area Power Administration anemometer loan program. Currently 21 of 70 sites are posted, and Wind Powering America plans to add 10 sites per year after the initial group of 70.
For most sites, data consist of wind speed and direction data collected at a height of 20 meters (66 feet). For a handful of locations, data were collected from multiple heights using taller towers. For each monitoring site, meteorological data reports are available, including diurnal and annual profiles, wind direction roses, wind speed frequency histograms, and turbulence roses and plots. For some sites, corrected time series data are also available.
