On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Grenada on your 37th anniversary of independence this February 7.

The United States and Grenada are working together on issues of importance to both our nations, from the health of our citizens to the security and stability of our region. Our nations cooperate bilaterally, as well as through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative, the Partnership Framework for HIV and AIDS, the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas, the Caribbean Youth Empowerment Program and other multilateral institutions. The United States is committed to strengthening the ties of friendship between our countries as we face the challenges of our region together.

The people of Grenada have a long and proud history. As you celebrate your independence, know that the United States stands with you and we look forward to continuing to work together to build a brighter future for all our people.
