Jefferson County, CO Schools Begin 3 MW Solar Installation
Jefferson County, Colorado's public school district installed the first six 100-kilowatt (kW) photovoltaic systems of a planned 3-megawatt (MW) solar project. The first projects were placed in service on Arvada West High School, Bear Creek High School, Columbine High School, Lakewood High School, Mt. Carbon Elementary School, and the service center of the Education Center. Eventually, the district will have 30 separate arrays on facilities.
The solar arrays were financed and contracted at a reduced energy rate to the school district by RSB Funds, an L3C (Low-profit, Limited Liability Company) developer of solar projects for governmental and tax-exempt entities.
