Dear Mr Richards,
The Vegan Society is a UK-registered educational charity and membership organisation.
We have been approached by a supporter who intends to raise a specific complaint with OfCom regarding a vegan being denied access to vegan-suitable food whilst taking part in a TV broadcast on UK TV.
We are not in a position to comment upon the details of the specific case.
However, the Vegan Society believe that all UK TV and radio programmes which would provide religiously appropriate food e.g. to Muslim or Hindu participants, are likely to be in breach of the UK Equality Act 2010 if they fail to also provide vegan-appropriate food to vegans.
Yours sincerely,
Nigel Winter
Chief Executive Officer
The Vegan Society
