FirstAlert(tm) Daily 1/7/11: Dell Rallys

- Technical Market Commentary -

January 7, 2011 (FinancialWire) (By Frank Kollar) (Go to http://www.financialwire.net/?s=cmmtry for all recent commentaries.) — Shares of Dell, Inc. (DELL – NASDAQ) rallied on Thursday after the company announced a new version of its “Streak” tablets. The 7-inch, 4G capable device will run Google, Inc.'s (GOOG – NASDAQ) “Android” operating system. On the day, Dell climbed 2.8%, closing with a gain of $0.39.

The rally pushed share prices above the resistance level of about $13.85 that has held prices in-check since early November, and this rally could easily reach the prior rally closing highs of $14.69 per share that were attained in October.

Dell was at $17.50 per share back in April, 2010, but took a substantial loss from May to August. Should Dell manage to make a decisive close above $15.00 in coming weeks, we could see a new test of that old $17.50 high.
