Severe weather conditions

The current weather conditions are presenting considerable challenges in many parts of the country.
We have published advice for farmers and pet owners on what they should do to protect the welfare of their animals:
We and Devolved Administration colleagues are in close touch with organisations representing those affected by the weather, and will continue to look at whether there are specific measures we need to put in place to ease problems, including essential transport needs. We will keep this news story updated with any further information.
All Defra HQ sites are currently open (London, York, Alnwick and Bristol) though many staff will have experienced travel difficulties or may be working from home.
