Aerospace Acquisitions: TransDigm To Buy Telair

November 30, 2010 (FinancialWire) (http://www.financialwire.net/) — TransDigm Group, Inc. (NYSE: TDG) said that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Actuation business  of Telair International, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teleflex Inc. (NYSE: TFX), for around $94 million in cash.

The acquisition, subject to receipt of Hart-Scott-Rodino approval and other customary closing conditions, is scheduled to close by December 31.  

California-based Actuation manufactures proprietary, engineered electro-mechanical products and other components for commercial and military aircraft. According to TransDigm, the business has expected calendar 2010 revenues of around $25 million.  

Around two-thirds of the firm’s revenues come from the commercial aerospace market with the balance to the defense market.  About two-thirds of the revenues come from the aftermarket.

Ohio-based TransDigm Group, through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, is a global designer, producer and supplier of engineered aircraft components for use on commercial and military aircraft.

The firm’s major product offerings include mechanical/electro-mechanical actuators and controls, among other components.
