WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Cargill Limited has announced the permanent closure of its Spruce Grove, Alberta crop input operation, effective Nov. 15, 2010.
Company officials confirmed its decision is based on Cargill's commitment to maintaining safe, cost effective and efficient facilities in the communities in which they operate. The existing operation is of considerable age and currently under utilized. No employees will be affected by the closure, as all existing staff are already based out of Cargill's neighbouring Leduc and Edmonton facilities.
"We value our customers, and our relationship with them is very important to us. We will continue to serve and partner with them by having our team of dedicated Cargill farm market representatives readily available to provide localized crop input solutions through our Edmonton and Leduc locations. We will also continue to offer them direct-to-farm service solutions," said Allan Facchinutti, farm service group manager for the Spruce Grove location.
