CORALVILLE, Iowa — As part of its longstanding commitment to education, Cargill has donated $100,000 to the Jones County Fair and Exposition Society to support construction of the Jones County 4-H Youth Development Center.
The center will serve as a headquarters facility for the 4-H and FFA programs of Eastern Iowa. It will be located on the Jones County Fairgrounds and allow for the expansion of 4-H and FFA youth exhibits at the annual fair. Construction will begin in 2011, with the opening slated for Summer 2012.
"The Jones County 4-H Youth Development Center will empower youth by giving them the opportunity to learn and share that knowledge and leadership with the community," said Nicholas Hein, capital campaign chairman of the Jones County 4-H Youth Development Center. "We are grateful for Cargill's support, which will allow us to complete the project."
”We've seen firsthand the kind of quality education 4-H and FFA programs provide," said Brenda Kochanny, trading manager of Cargill Animal Nutrition in Coralville. "We are proud to support the new center, which will nourish the growth and vitality of our community."
Members of the media are invited to learn more about the center on Nov. 14 at the annual Jones County 4-H banquet. Attendees include 4-H members and their families, the Jones County Extension council, the Jones County 4-H Youth Development Center committee and lead donors, including Cargill. The event will be at 3:00 p.m. at Camp Courageous outside Monticello, Iowa. For more information, please contact Bridget Burkel at bridget_burkel@cargill.com.
