OMAHA, Neb., Oct 25, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ConAgra Foods has been recognized with Chief Learning Officer magazine's Learning in Practice Gold Business Impact Award for its innovative leadership development program, Foundations of Leadership. The program for front-line supervisors was recognized for the efficiency and effectiveness of its execution and its high return on investment (ROI) for the company. "The Foundations of Leadership training program was created based on a need to align leadership across the company - developing future leaders and building a common culture," said Mike Tracy, vice president, Operations, ConAgra Foods. "We're thrilled with the ROI we've seen and honored to be recognized for the effort." The ROI of the program was revealed in a controlled, third-party study done by Bellevue University's Human Capital LabSM, which analyzed the performance of 600 trained and 1,600 untrained supervisors. The study showed that the program improved productivity and reduced turnover, while smaller facilities saw improvements in safety audit scores. Those who went through the training also were nearly twice as likely to be promoted. ConAgra Foods was chosen for the award through Chief Learning Officer magazine's peer voting system. In addition to the recognition from Chief Learning Officer magazine, ConAgra Foods recently was named to the No. 35 spot on Leadership Excellence's 2010 Best in Leadership Development ranking. The list, which includes companies like IBM, General Electric and Boeing, was selected based on seven criteria: vision/mission; design; content and curriculum; involvement and participation; measurement and accountability; presenters, presentations and delivery; take-home value; and outreach. "Our continued investment in building world-class leadership programs is paying off in many ways," said Lucy Dinwiddie, vice president, Human Resources, ConAgra Foods. "We are thankful that programs like Foundations of Leadership and our overall commitment to development are being recognized for the business results they drive." Chief Learning Officer magazine previously recognized ConAgra Foods with the Vanguard Award in 2008 for its Leadership Excellence Series. The award was presented Sept. 28, at the Fall 2010 CLO Symposium in Dana Point, California.
