Telecom Watch: AsiaInfo Buys Linkage
July 7, 2010 (FinancialWire) — AsiaInfo Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASIA), a provider of telecom software solutions and IT security products and services in China, said that it has closed an agreement to merge with Linkage Technologies International Holdings Ltd. and form AsiaInfo-Linkage, Inc.
AsiaInfo and Linkage agreed to merge on December 6, 2009 and recently agreed to a target closing date of July 1, 2010. Under the terms of the agreement, Linkage shareholders received $60 million in cash and around 26.8 million AsiaInfo shares.
AsiaInfo Holdings is a provider of telecom software solutions and IT security products and services to Chinese companies. Organized as a Delaware corporation, AsiaInfo began operations in the United States in 1993. The Company moved major operations to China in 1995 and played a role in the construction of the national backbones and provincial access networks for China's major national telecom carriers, including China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Netcom.
Since 1998, AsiaInfo has continued diversifying its product offerings and is now a provider of telecom software solutions in China.
