New Products: Epson Targets Education Market

June 30, 2010 (FinancialWire) (Go to http://www.financialwire.net/?s=ftrdnwswnd for all of today’s featured news.) — Seiko Epson Corp.’s (OTC: SEKEY) Epson America unit has launched Epson DC-11 document camera, which was designed to help K-12 classrooms promote a dynamic learning environment. According to Epson, the camera makes it easy to display textbooks, experiments, and 3D objects, as well as allow other interactive lessons.

The DC-11 includes various classroom-centric features, including high quality imaging, easy-to-use features and connectivity. It features a five megapixel sensor, 10x digital zoom, and 30 frames-per-second video at full resolution. Epson said that the DC-11 can display up to two full pages with clarity and detail. A built-in microphone and included software allows the DC-11 to record audio and video to capture classroom lessons and student presentations, which can be uploaded to class websites for students who missed the lesson or are taking a class remotely.

Epson’s DC-11 will be available for $499 in late September 2010 through national resellers, pro audio/visual dealers, mail order, and distribution.

Epson America provides a range of printers, 3LCD projectors, scanners and point-of-service printers.

Japan-based Seiko Epson employs more than 70,000 people in 106 countries around the world.
