Prickly Pear throws back the covers on its exclusive, up-market Autumn 2010 range of quilts and cushions pricklypear.com
PRESS DISPENSARY - Wednesday, Jun 30, 2010 - Upmarket British accessory brand, Prickly Pear, is uncovering its exclusive range of quilts and cushions for Autumn 2010. Perfect for making any room feel cosy and cheerful on chilly nights, the vibrantly coloured collection is now available from its online shop at http://www.pricklypearshop.com .
Designed by Prickly Pear and specially handcrafted in Jaipur, India, the 100% cotton quilts are all double sided, featuring an eye-catching patchwork design on one side and a solid shot of colour or single print on the other. The bright-jewel and pretty pastel tones have been specially selected to cheer up any room and bring some Indian warmth and sunshine to British homes this winter.
With a quilting exhibition currently drawing crowds at London's V&A, and this year's Clothes Show Live staging a special zone dedicated to sewing and stitching, patchwork is having a style moment.
Prickly Pear founder Joanna Mason says: "The retro textiles of our grandmothers' generation are making a comeback. People are turning away from austere fabrics and furnishings in favour of bold, beautiful and skilfully patterned textiles that add warmth and character to a home.
"Our quilts and cushions are ideal for making beds and sofas stylish and snug as the nights draw in, and the quilt would even make a fabulous winter curtain for a drafty doorway!"
The quilts come in a range of prints including 'vintage', 'gypsy', 'country' and 'floral', and are available in two sizes, a single measuring 160x250cm and a double measuring 210x260cm. The matching cushions are also available in two sizes: 40x40cm and 55x55cm. Prices start from GBP 12.95 for a cushion and GBP 160 for a quilt.
Established in 1997, Prickly Pear has gained a strong reputation for quality materials and craftsmanship, with a range including leather and textile bags, baskets, jewellery, beach accessories, sarongs and kaftans. And all Prickly Pear designs are handcrafted and exclusive to the company: it doesn't buy from other designers or resell anyone else's goods.
Notes for editors
Prickly Pear was launched in 1997 by designer Joanna Mason, as a Sussex based designer and retailer. A few years ago it relocated to the port of Javea, a traditional fishing village situated on the most easterly point of Spain. There, Joanna also runs the beachfront shop 'Indigo'.

Joanna promises her UK customers a genuinely local UK service, with GBP GBP charges, UK delivery times and shipping costs, a UK returns address and a UK phone number.
Until recently, its products were only available from select outlets in the UK, but the company launched its own, direct retail website in November 2009. Some Prickly Pear products are restricted to its network of authorised high street retailers whilst others are exclusive to the website.
