Integration: the new buzz word in Chinese Tourism

May 9, 2010 (PRN): A string of announcements by provincial and municipal tourist administrations throughout China have all followed the one theme: Integration.

Realising that individual attractions (and budgets) are insufficient to attract visitors, these Chinese tourism bodies have decided to co-operate and put together integrated packages that then contain more at less expense.

Many provincial administrations have latched on to the World Expo in Shanghai and are promoting themselves as somewhere to visit after attending that event. Yunnan Province in the far south-west of China is one of the leaders in this field. Yunnan offers stunning scenery and a rich mix of cultural experiences amongst its diverse ethnic minorities.

Municipalities are emphasising the advantages of modern transport options. This is especially true of the cities on the new high-speed rail network. Luoyang, one of China’s ancient capitals, is now easily reached from Xi’an, another ancient capital and on many itineraries because of its proximity to the Terracotta Warriors.

All of this is good news for the travel industry in China, or at least the innovative members of that community. These promotions put forward new options which can then be packaged so as to meet the demands of the discerning visitor coming to China. What is good news for Chinese tourism is also, of course, good news for anyone planning to visit China.
