May 6, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Herley Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: HRLY) said that its Herley New England division in Woburn, Massachusetts has been awarded a contract valued at around $2.5 million to supply multi-function integrated microwave assemblies to a U. S. prime defense contractor.

According to Herley, the IMAs will be used in the electronic support measures system of the initial production order of P-8 maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft for an international customer.

The P-8A "Poseidon" is being developed for the U. S. Navy, and will be a long-term production program for the U. S. and international militaries.

Pennsylvania-based Herley Industries is engaged in the design, development and manufacture of microwave technology solutions for the defense, aerospace and medical industries worldwide.

Herley has seven manufacturing locations and around 1000 employees.
