Ceradyne Wins Iraq Boat Armor Contract
April 2, 2010 (FinancialWire) — Ceradyne, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDN), in conjunction with Turner Strategic Technologies LLC of Virginia Beach, Virginia, said it has been awarded a contract worth between $3.5 million to $6.0 million for the supply and installation of protective armor for the command station of nine new 35-meter patrol vessels being manufactured for the Iraqi Navy by Swiftships of Morgan City, Louisiana.
The company said the contract value range depends on customer exercised options.
Ceradyne is providing end-users with armoring technology it said is capable of protecting the ship’s crew under severe combat conditions. The vessels are being purchased through the US Foreign Military Sales Program and will increase the overall naval capability of the Iraqi Navy.
